LSD |
Short-Term Effects: Effects may last between 1-24 hours, with unpredictable results. Low doses usually produce alterations in mood and perceptions. High does may induce hallucinations, also increased blood pressure, dilated pupils, trembling, chills, and nausea.
Long-Term Effects: `flashback`: spontaneous recurrence of sensations from a prior drug experience. Can be experienced days, weeks or even years after LSD use. Effects range from pleasant to severely anxiety-producing. Perceptual flashbacks are the most common and are usually visual. These may include intensification of colours, and other hallucinations.
Withdrawal: No withdrawal syndrome has been observed, even after long periods of use.
Interactions with Other Drugs: Hallucinogens will potentiate (multiply or intensify) the effects of each other and aggravate the effects of alcohol and methamphetamine (speed).
Lethality/OD Treatment: Reassure the person in a supportive and familiar enviroment where possible. Don't leave the person alone. Overdose may result in an increase in disorientation, often leading to panic or aggressive behaviour. Get help; find out as much as you can about substances involved. If unconcious, check pulse/breathing. Begin CPR if necessary. Call ambulance and accompany to hospital.
